YOUNG BLOOD

 A MODERN ANTHOLOGY

From Edgar Allan Poe to Stephen King in literature, and since the pioneering first season of The Twilight Zone in 1959, the genre anthology has amazed, terrified, and delighted crowds the world over. More recently, American Horror Story and Black Mirror have received critical acclaim and cult status while remaining two of the most-watched TV shows of all time, resulting in multiple seasons and spin-offs of each property.

YOUNG BLOOD reinvents the tradition of the classic genre anthology from a contemporary human perspective, with a collection of nine episodes per season focused on people’s darker instincts and behaviours, created by, and exhibiting the work of, the globe’s most promising filmmaker/producer teams of tomorrow.

While each volume of the series will have a regional focus and central theme that ties the episodes together, each instalment can exist in isolation as a standalone piece. This allows flexibility for potential buyers to programme as they see fit with their audience in mind, providing a tailored premium service for their subscribers/viewers.

THE CREATORS

The seed of this idea comes from Exec Producer Emilie Georges, who became a household name on the international scene after discovering acclaimed filmmakers: Jon Watts (Marvel’s Spider-Man), Jim Mickle (Netflix’s Sweet Tooth), Luca Guadagnino (Bones and All), and Jérémy Saulnier (Green Room). With a keen eye for genre talent, Emilie has also collaborated on Piercing (Nicolas Pesce) and Berlin Syndrome (Cate Shortland).

Producer Inès Daïen Dasi is known for nurturing and producing young filmmaking talent at Les Films du Poisson, a landmark production house in European arthouse cinema (Mathieu Amalric, Etgar Keret, Julie Bertuccelli) and popular TV series (Toledano & Nakache’s In Treatment 1 & 2).

With Emilie’s exquisite taste and eye for future A-listers and Ines’s experience with emerging talent, this meeting of minds and passion for empowering the next generation of genre filmmakers will push this horror anthology to the next level. Their ambition is to create an exhibition space for emerging filmmakers, mentoring the development of stand-out films for broad audiences that include genre aficionados (who have recently shown a growing appetite for darker female stories) as well as the core 18-35 audience that generally come to genre content.
